Govt to buy executive jets for VVIPs soon: Menon

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon on Monday said the government will purchase executive jet airplanes for carrying VVIPs soon.

The minister said this while talking to reporters after a standing committee meeting on Monday afternoon.

The finance ministry already agreed to provide the money, he said, reports UNB.

Earlier on Sunday a VVIP flight of the national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines made an emergency landing at Ashgabat International Airport in Turkmenistan following fall of pressure in one of its engines on the way to Budapest on Sunday.

Two separate probe committees were formed to investigate the technical glitch in the flight carrying Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said, adding that the probe committees have been asked to submit their reports by December 30.

"Those who are involved in the incident will be punished," said Menon. –RH
