Educators suggest 15 changes to improve high school edu
Educators have recommended 15 changes, including standardised tests and cutting down the number of subjects, to improve secondary school education standards.
The recommendations emerged from a recent two-day workshop involving prominent Bangladeshi educators, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid told a press conference on Monday.
Educators recommended removing physical education, health sciences and sports, arts and crafts and career education from the SSC syllabus.
They suggest the subjects could, instead, be taught regularly at lower classes.
The education minister did not say when these recommendations would be adopted.
The workshop recommended that all boards take the same standardised tests from 2019, said the education minister.
Educators also suggested the creation of an ‘item bank’ for multiple choice and creative questions, adoption of a reading day and distribution of ‘teacher’s guides’, according to bdnews24.com. – bz
