Magura carrot growers expect Tk 20m profit this season
The carrot growers of the district are expecting Tk 20 million profit this season following a bumper production of the crop.
Carrot is being sold in the local markets at Tk 30 per kg.
The DAE, Magura, said a total of 220 hectares of land were brought under carrot cultivation in the district this season with the output target of 2,050 tonnes.
Golam Robbani, a carrot farmer of village Raigram under Sadar Upazila, said, "I have brought about 100 decimals of land under carrot cultivation this year. I am expecting to make a profit of Tk 35,000 from it."
Rezaul Islam, another farmer of village Alaipur, said at present carrot is being sold at 30 per kg which was Tk 10 last year. "We will be able to make high profit this season", he added.
DAE official Badrul Hasan said a bumper production and fair prices have made Magura carrot growers happy.
