All accused let off in Sandip murder case
All the eight accused in the Akkasuddin murder case at Sandip's Gachua Union, that started 23 years ago, have been let off.
Chittagong's Fourth Additional District and Sessions Judge Mohammed Nazrul Islam gave his final verdict on the case on Sunday, reports bdnews24.com.
Public Prosecutor Ajoy Bose said Sunday had been fixed for arguments in the case, at the end of which the judgement was passed.
"The court decided to acquit all the accused because their involvement in the murder could not be proven," said Bose.
The High Court had asked the court in the port city to finish the case within three months, since it had dragged on for a very long time.
The Chittagong court has now finished the case within that deadline.
Akkasuddin, 40, had been beaten to death on Aug 4, 1993 at Gachua Union of Sandip.
