Of the 22 days, 14 will be general holidays and the other eight are cleared by executive order, Cabinet Secretary Md Shafiul Alam told reporters after the meeting.
Ten of these holidays will fall on Fridays and Saturdays.
The 14 general holidays are composed of Jatiya Dibash and various religious festivals. Six of these days will fall on the weekend next year.
The days cleared by executive order include the Bangla New Year and several important religious occasions. In 2017, four of these days will fall on the weekend.
Alam said that another three days of optional leave had been approved for members of different religious communities to observe their own festivals.
“Government employees of ethnic origin in the Chittagong Hill Tracts can opt for two days additional leave along with the Bangla New Year Holiday. One of these days falls on the weekend,” he added.
