National Board of Revenue (NBR) chairman Nojibur Rahman on Tuesday urged the country's income tax lawyers to play an active, dynamic and effective role to help boost the government's revenue collection.

Terming the income tax lawyers 'important partners' of NBR, he said the board is committed to maintaining good relationship with the lawyers.

"NBR along with the income tax lawyers is working to build a cordial relationship with all partners," he noted.

The NBR chairman said these while presiding over a view-exchange meeting with the representatives of Bangladesh Tax Lawyers' Association (BTLA) and Dhaka Taxes Bar Association (DTBA) at NBR conference room.

The programme focused on strengthening NBR's relationship with the income tax lawyers as well as making their direct and indirect roles more active and dynamic in collecting revenue.

A power-point presentation on good governance and better management structure of NBR was also made on the occasion. Members of BTLA and DTBA as well as NBR officials were present at the discussion.

They focused on relation of the lawyers and the income tax department along with scopes of cooperation with NBR to collect more revenue. The lawyers pledged to ensure maximum cooperation in the country's revenue collection.

The NBR chairman thanked the income tax lawyers for the assurance, and said, "I hope the lawyers will continuously work along with us to make a strong and powerful NBR."
