Fake medicine

SPURIOUS drug is abundantly available in the market, which is posing a constant threat to public health. Often the law enforcers arrest some dishonest traders but they are mere agents of fake medicine manufacturers. While medicines are prescribed to help people recover from illness, fake medicines make the situation worse in terms of health complications and at times with reverse effect.

The government should put emphasis on enforcement of the existing laws so that the manufacturers and sellers are duly punished. Only financial penalty is not enough and a committee of medicine sellers and producers should be formed to strictly monitor marketing of the spurious drugs. The committee should be put on high alert and help the law enforcers to identify people who are related to this murky business. We should create awareness among the people so that they also remain alert when they buy medicines.
