Fire at Savar gas lighter factory under control
A fire was broke out at a gas lighter factory at Ashulia of Savar area in Dhaka on Tuesday afternoon. After a three-hour fighting, fire workers doused the fire.
Locals rescued 31 burnt people from the factory. Among them, 21 were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Others were taken to different nearby hospitals, Channel 24, a private television, says.
Quoting workers, officer-in-charge of Ashulia Police Station Mohsinul Quader said the fire originated at a warehouse of ‘Colour Gas Match’ at Zerabo-Fulbagan around 4 pm.
Soon the fire engulfed the entire tin-roofed factory as there were huge flammable objects, including chemicals, at the factory, reports UNB.
Meanwhile, the private television also says, eight fire-fighting units rushed in to douse the blaze that was raging through the factory. After a three-hour fighting, fire workers doused the flame at about 7.00pm.
Workers who managed to get out of the factory feared some of them got trapped inside. –RH
