600 wild birds seized, man arrested
Police have seized more than 600 wild birds at Savar Upazila in Dhaka and arrested a man for illegal trading in them.
Ashim Mollick, inspector of Bangladesh Forest Department’s wildlife crime prevention unit, on Wednesday said that officers arrested Lal Miya, 35, in a drive conducted on a tip off at Savar’s Zirabo around 2:30am.
On the basis of information from him, police seized more than 600 birds including Parakeet, Parrot, Myna and Munia locked in cages inside a warehouse.
Lal Miya, who hails from Sherpur district, had brought the birds from Bogra and Rajshahi to sell them in Dhaka, said the forest department official, according to a news agency. – bz
