‘Drug peddler’ found dead

Police recovered the body of an alleged drug peddler from a banana orchard at Kalampur village in Dhamrai upazila in Dhaka on Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Yunus, 40, hailing from Kushtia district. He used to live in a rented house at Kalampur village.

Officer-in-charge of Dhamrai Police Station Rizaul Hoque said Yunus had been at loggerheads with other drug peddlers over the selling of drugs in the area.

He went missing on Tuesday night.

Later, locals spotted his body at the banana orchard in the village and informed police.

Yunus might have been strangulated to death, the OC added.

The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy, according to a news agency.
