Irregularities in Tk 10 per kg rice sale
THERE are reports of gross irregularities in Tk-10 per kg rice sale under a government project. Some vested quarters are hell-bent to spoil the good project and destroy the image of the government. The sooner the government realizes the matter and bring the culprits under justice the better.
We knew it from the media that the government undertook a project to distribute rice among the poor and underprivileged people at the rate of Tk10 per kg. No sooner had the project started its operation, reports of rampant and huge irregularities started pouring in. It is a noble project of the government as it was aimed to bring relief for the poor and the distressed at a time when prices of commodities are rising. All patriotic people of the country were happy to see that the government was sincerely trying to reduce the burden on the people living from hand to mouth. But based on media reports, it is now found that the project has become a source of corruption. The poor people are complaining that they are not getting the rice and it is being sold in the open market at a higher price.
Sadly, a section of the ruling party leaders are reportedly involved in such malpractices. The government must stop these irregularities and award due punishment to the offenders. The ruling party high command should also locate these criminals and hand them over to law enforcing agencies in order to set an example for the future.
