Four injured in Gulistan accident
FE Online Report
At least four people were injured in a road accident – involving an autorickshaw, a bus and a car – in Dhaka’s Gulistan on Saturday afternoon.
The victims – all inmates of the autorickshaw – were identified as Md Jahamgir Alam, 45, driver of the autorickshaw, Sumon Akbar, 35, Kawsar, 40, and Arif, 28. They were rescued and admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Police and witnesses said, a Dhaka-bound bus of ‘Asia Line’ transport company from Comilla rammed the autorickshaw from behind near the toll plaza of Mayor Md Hanif Flyover around 4:30pm, leaving the four injured. They said the recklessly-driven bus also dashed a private car after hitting the autorickshaw as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving the two smaller vehicles badly damaged.
However, no inmates of the bus and the private car were hurt in the accident.
DMCH sources said, among the injured, condition of autorickshaw driver Jahangir was critical. –bz
