Virginia eager to support Bangladesh
Virginia Governor Terence Richard McAulliffe has showed keen interest to support Bangladesh in its development endeavours.
The United State Governor has lauded successes of the Bangladesh government in recent years in various sectors.
He expressed the interest when Bangladesh Ambassador to the USA Mohammad Ziauddin called on him at the Governor's Richmond office on Tuesday, according to a message received in Dhaka last night.
During the meeting, they have discussed issues of mutual interests focusing on possible cooperation in different potential fields between Bangladesh and Virginia, USA.
They also discussed on counter terrorism effort, woman empowerment, trade and commerce including export of apparels from Bangladesh to the USA, particularly to Virginia, cooperation in information Technology, Cyber Security, Healthcare and Agriculture.
The Ambassador informed the Governor that Bangladesh is an emerging economy and her per-capita income has increased threefold in the past eight years.
Ziauddin also informed McAulliffe that the present government of Bangladesh is providing all kinds of opportunities for investors and the return of investment is higher than any other country.
Ambassador Ziauddin invited him to visit Bangladesh.
The Governor gladly accepted the invitation and said he would be honoured to accept the hospitality of Bangladesh at an opportune moment, according to BSS report.
