S Asia Economic Summit in city on Oct 15-16
The 9th South Asia Economic Summit (SAES IX) will be held in Dhaka on October 15-16 with the overarching theme “Reimagining South Asia in 2030.”
Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) is hosting the two-day event jointly with other premier South Asian think tanks, according to a news agency.
The SAES IX is taking place in Dhaka in continuation of the preceding eight SAES events hosted by rotation by its co-organisers.
The objective of SAES is to advance the cause of regional integration in South Asia through discussions and reflections by stakeholders on key issues of interest and concern to countries and people of the region, organisers said.
Within the overarching broad theme, the Ninth Summit will focus on a set of cross-cutting issues and a cluster of thematic issues that would deliberate on envisioning the South Asia in 2030.
Over 60 participants, including ministers, high-level policymakers, leading experts and academics, trade and industry leaders, representatives of civil society and grassroots groups, and development partners, from the region and beyond will take part in the event.—AR
