Mushfiq, Mosaddek battle on
Mushfiqur Rahim and Mosaddek Hossain were battling on as the scoreboard continued ticking up after the loss of six wickets in the decider of the three-mach ODI series against England in Chittagong on Wednesday.
Mushfiq was batting on 36 and Mosaddek on 20 after 45th over with the team score reading 228 in the Chittagong Zahur Ahmed Stadium.
Nasir Hossain went back on 4 off the ball of Rashid in the 39th over.
Earlier two openers made notable contributions to the innings. Tamim Iqbal scored 45 and Imrul Kayes 46. Then the Tigers lost the momentum as Riyad (6) and Shakib ($) departed early.
However, Sabbir steadied the innings. But he just missed the half century as he was sent back on 49, Bangladesh’s fourth wicket with the scoreboard flashing 176 in the 33rd over.
Bangladesh lost the toss and were put in to bat first by England in the series decider.
The series is evenly poised on 1-1 and a wrangle between the teams in the second ODI has added an extra bit of spice in the final match.
Bangladesh’s playing eleven remained unchanged from the second ODI while England recalled Sam Billings and Liam Plunkett.—AR
