Infant stolen from DMCH

An infant has been stolen from the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), police and family sources have alleged.

Family and police said 3-month-old Khadiza was taken away by an unidentified woman on Thursday afternoon.

The infant's father Bahadur Dhali, who hails from Madaripur, is being treated for a tumour at the hospital for the last two and a half months.

Dhali's wife Nasima Begum and her two daughters, 10-year-old Swarna and 3-month-old Khadiza, were with them at the hospital.

Police said a woman, who befriended Dhali’s wife over the last three days, stole the infant.

The woman took the infant from her elder sister Swarna and fled, said Shahbagh police OC Abu Bakar Siddik.

He said they were recording the 10-year-old girl's statement and going through security camera footage of the hospital to identify the culprit.

About two years ago, a newborn was stolen from the DMCH and was later rescued by RAB within four days, according to -bz
