Afghanistan's national cricket team, including seven officials, arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport in Dhaka on Tuesday. A Jet Airways flight, carrying the 24-member team, landed at the airport around 4:20pm.
ICC Associate nation Afghanistan will play a three-match One Day International (ODI) series against Bangladesh.
The matches of the first ever series between the two nations will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on September 25, 28 and October 1. All the matches are scheduled to start at 2:30pm.
In their previous two ODI meetings, Bangladesh defeated Afghanistan by 105 runs in the World Cup 2015, but lost by 32 runs in the first instance in Asia Cup in 2014.
Asghar Stanikzai will lead the visitors who arrived in Dhaka after completing around a two-week training camp in India.
With this series, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza-led Bangladesh will take the ground for ODI after around 10-months as the Tigers played the last ODI in November 11, 2015 at home against Zimbabwe.
The visitors will start their tour campaign with the only one-day practice match against BCB XI at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah tomorrow (Friday). They will also have a practice session at Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Academy ground today (Thursday).
Meanwhile, BCB announced a 13-member 'BCB XI' squad on Tuesday for the practice match against Afghanistan, including seven players - Imrul Kayes, Anamul Haque, Mossadek Hossain, Sabbir Rahman, Shuvashish Roy, Mehedi Hasan and Alauddin Babu - from the 20-man national pool that has been selected for the series against Afghanistan and England.
The English Test and ODI teams are scheduled to arrive in the city on September 30 and will stay until November 2 to play the Test and ODI series in Dhaka and Chittagong.
