Speakers for nationalisation of Nilphamari Museum
NILPHAMARI, Sept 21: Speakers at a meeting demanded nationalisation of Nilphamari Museum.
The meeting was organised jointly by District Unnayon Forum, Sammilito Sangskritik Jote and Daridro Bimochon Sangstha and BRIF.
BRIF Managing Director Ahasan Habib presided over the meeting at the conference room of Nilphamari Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
The speakers said the museum was established by the initiative of one Mojibar Rahaman in 1958. Later, in 1983, then Nilphamari DC Khalilur Rahman allotted four rooms of the abandoned old building of DC office for its materials to be kept. In 2000, the museum was ceremonially opened by then DC ABM Kamrul Islam.
The speakers also focused on the resourceful collections of articles in the museum and demanded a separate land of its own and a new building to keep the materials there.
