Another injured in Tampaco factory fire dies, toll rises to 35

A worker of Tampaco Foils factory has died from the injuries suffered in the fire and collapse following an explosion in the packaging factory in Tongi, Gazipur.

Hossain Ahmed Rasel, 26, from Sylhet is the 35th victim to die in the devastation.

He died at Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital in Dhanmondi on Tuesday afternoon, Tongi Police Station Sub-Inspector Sumon Bhakta said.

Rasel's body had been handed over to father Hasan Ali, he added.

Gazipur Relief Officer Mahbubur Rahman said Tk 20,000 was given to Hasan for the burial.

At least 39 other persons were injured in the mishap that occurred on Sep 10.

Meanwhile, army and fire service personnel are still carrying out rescue activities at the fire-ravaged factory as 11 people, on the missing list of the district administration, could not be traced out yet, according to agencies.
