LGED employs female labourers in 29 projects in Sylhet Division
SYLHET, Sept 20: Work on 29 projects worth Tk 13.688 million were completed by the female workers in three districts of Sylhet Division in the last fiscal year (2015-2016).
LGED took up those projects for maintenance of different upazilas and rural growth centre connecting roads, informed the department's superintending engineer, Sylhet, Adinath Ghosh. He said only the rural female workers are employed for the road reconstruction work to help them make financially benefited.
The projects include, 18 with a total allocation of Tk 7.6 million in Sylhet, eight in Moulvibazar with an allocation of Tk 4.1 million and three in Habiganj with a total expenditure of Tk 1.9 million. However, there had been no project in Sunamganj, the official added.
Under the same programme for rural road development and repair work another 29 projects had been taken up in the said districts in FY 2016-2017, the official added. "These would cost Tk 13.531 million", he further said.
