Quader cautions BRTA employees against irregularities
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said irregularities and negligence of duties in transportation management will not be tolerated.

"It is our priority to maintain discipline in the transport sector. The (Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) should perform their duties with utmost sincerity and professionalism imbued with patriotism for management of transport sector", he said.

The minister cautioned the officials after a surprise visit at the BRTA office at Ikuria of Keraniganj on Tuesday afternoon, reports BSS.

Quader said the quality of services of the BRTA has improved by a slight margin. But proficiency of the officials and employees needs to be increased.

The minister said that although his ministry has put middlemen out of the equation by a large extent, still there are allegations of sufferings.

Quader said the BRTA is providing its services online but online services needs to be extended more.

The minister instructed the officials and employees of the BRTA to work with the mentality of providing service and eliminating the sufferings of the people.

Earlier, the minister visited the BRTC bus depots at Joar Sahara and Mothijheel.

The road transport minister instructed to repair the outdated vehicles as soon as possible.

On the request of the people, the minister also gave instruction for operating two BRTC buses on Kuril-Badda-Rampura-Gulishtan and Azimpur-Newmarket-Shahbagh-Press Club-Mothijheel routes. - IH
