New Zealand shares edge up
New Zealand shares edged up on Tuesday as investors were cautious before central bank policy meetings in the United States and Japan.
The benchmark S&P/NZX 50 index rose 0.4 per cent, or 30.33 points, to 7,308.45.
Industrials, utilities and telecom stocks pushed the index higher.
New Zealand Refining Company led the gains on the benchmark, rising more than 3.0 per cent.
Honey supplier Comvita Ltd was the biggest gainer on the benchmark, jumping 3.1 per cent to touch a more than one-month high.
Power generator Meridian Energy Ltd advanced more than 2.0 per cent while Genesis Energy gained 1.8 per cent, according to a news agency report.
