Tamim at ease with willow but finger injury yet to heal
A smooth session of batting practice from injured Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal has given the Tigers a boost ahead of their home series against Afghanistan.
The fracture to his finger, however, is yet to fully heal.
Bangladesh resumed their training after the Eid-ul-Azha holidays at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
After warming up with the rest of the team, the left-handed batsman did some knocking at the outfield.
He then practised batting at the centre wicket over two rounds and later said he felt no pain.
With the first of three ODIs against Afghanistan just a week away, the team's medical staff are confident that Tamim will be fit before the series kicks off.
"The fracture is still there but I have no problem playing with it. The doctors left [the decision] up to me. If there is no pain during batting, I can play. I had no problem batting today," Tamim said, according to a news agency. -bz
