Lafarge Surma Cement Sunday dominated the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) turnover chart, while KDS Accessories emerged as turnover leader on Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE).
Five most-traded stocks on the premier bourse were Lafarge Surma Cement, ACME Laboratories, GPH Ispat Complex, Shahjibazar Power Company and KDS Accessories.
According to statistics available with the DSE, about 3.03 million Lafarge shares were traded, generating a turnover of nearly Tk 249 million. It was 7.91 per cent of the premier bourse's total turnover value.
The multinational cement producer's share price hovered between Tk 80.50 and Tk 82.60, before closing at Tk 82.40 on Sunday, advancing 2.49 per cent over the previous session.
Lafarge Surma, which was listed on the country's stock exchanges in 2003, disbursed total 10 per cent cash dividend (5.0 per cent final and 5.0 per cent interim) for the year ended on December 31, 2015.
The company's paid-up capital is Tk 11,613.70 million and authorised capital is Tk 14,000 million while the total number of securities is 1,161,373,500, the DSE data shows.
The company's market capitalisation stood at Tk 93,374.43 million as on Sunday.
The Lafarge Surma was followed by ACME Laboratories with about 1.63 million shares worth Tk 172 million changing hands. The country's oldest pharma company's share closed at Tk 105.50, shedding 2.50 per cent over the previous session.
GPH Ispat Complex was the third on the DSE turnover list with about 4.06 million shares worth Tk 125 million changing hands. The engineering sector company's share price rose 4.68 per cent to close at Tk 31.20 each.
Shahjibazar Power emerged as fourth on the DSE turnover list with 711,221 shares worth Tk 123 million changing hands. The power generation company's share closed at Tk 171.80, shedding 1.32 per cent over the previous day.
KDS Accessories came fifth on the turnover chart with about 1.64 million shares of nearly Tk 120 million changing hands. Each share of the company closed at Tk 74, soaring 6.05 per cent over the previous session.
On the other hand, five most active shares on the port city bourse were KDS Accessories, Lafarge Surma Cement, ACME Laboratories, Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited and GPH Ispat Complex.
According to statistics available with the CSE, some 1.90 million KDS Accessories shares were traded, generating a turnover of nearly Tk 137 million. The company's share price jumped 5.59 per cent to close at Tk 73.90 each.
KDS Garment Industries, one of the corporate sponsors of the company, has expressed its intention to buy 1,145,000 shares of the company at prevailing market price through stock exchange within next 30 working days, which helped the company became the turnover leader on the CSE, market insiders said.
Lafarge Surma Cement was second on the CSE turnover list with 267,182 shares worth Tk 21.94 million changing hands. The cement manufacturer's share price advanced 2.74 per cent to close at Tk 82.50 each.
