Corruption: A growing monster
CORRUPTION in our country has reached an ominous level and it calls for an all-out action against corrupt people and practices throughout the country. The government should crackdown on corruption to reduce the burden on the taxpayers and the common people. Unchecked corruption has eroded the moral values of people and more importantly guilty feeling for corrupt practices has totally disappeared from our minds.
On the contrary, corruption has become a way of life for many people in society. They do not feel either shy or guilty to ask for bribes to do something. People entrusted with the responsibility of curing society of this vice are not seen to exercise their powers properly as a result of which corruption is spreading throughout the length and breadth of the country. In all cases people are the unlucky victims. The young generation is getting a wrong message. If corrupt people are hated and avoided by society at large, they will be largely discouraged to involve themselves in corrupt practices. The rest of the job, that is, elimination of corruption will be done by laws of the land. But unfortunately, we do not see the corrupt people being hated and avoided in our society. On the contrary they are seen to occupy coveted positions.
It is very easy to spot corrupt people in an office but sadly the anti- corruption body does not extend its hands to curb corruption. Let us create a social campaign against corruption and help the government and its agencies to eliminate it.
