CHT to become a tourism zone: Quader
Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader Friday said the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) peace treaty would be implemented fully during the incumbent government’s tenure.
The minister said it while talking to newsmen at the Banbarban Circuit House, reports a news agency.
Quader also said that 70 per cent work of the treaty has already been implemented.
The minister said the government is working with a view to developing the CHT area as a tourism zone.
To this end, the government has allocated Tk 50 billion for development and modernisation of infrastructures in three CHT districts and Cox's Bazar, he added.
State Minister for CHT Affairs Bir Bahadur, MP, Hill District Council Chairman Kashoi Bidhan Chandra Dhar and Bandarban Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dilip Kumar Banik were present on the occasion, among others. - IH
