Rs.5.87b for India-Bangladesh rail link
The central government of India will provide Rs.5.87 billion for a rail project to link India and Bangladesh, union minister Jitendra Singh said Thursday.
The project, one of the most important under the 'Act East' policy of the Narendra Modi government, will help boost trade, cultural and social ties between the two countries, the minister of state for development of north eastern region (DoNER) said, According to a report by India based The Business Standard.
"The main initiative of the DoNER ministry is to provide funds for the rail link between India and Bangladesh. The budget cost of Rs.5.87 billion for the Indian side will be provided by the ministry," Singh told the media here.
The ministry has received Rs.24.00 billion in the current fiscal compared with Rs.23.34billion in the last fiscal.-Asfar
