Dr Md Nurul Islam, former joint chief of Planning Commission and former treasurer of Bangabandhu Shiekh Mujibur Rahman Agriculture University passed away on 31 Oct at 10:45 pm in Apollo Hospitals in the city. He was a high official of the Mujib Nagar government. Dr Islam was also chairman of Bangladesh Krishibid Samity.

Dr Islam was born in Muladi of Barisal in 1933.
