A 12-member team of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI) left Dhaka for Meghalaya and Guwahati in India Monday.
The team led by FBCCI president Annisul Huq, during the five-day visit, will hold business meetings with their counterparts and state government officials with a view to increasing bilateral trade.
FBCCI Vice President Abu Alam Chowdhury, directors Abdul Matlub Ahmad, Obaidur Rahman, Bijoy Kumar Keiriwal are other members of the delegation.
During the visit the FBCCI delegation will have meetings with deputy chief minister and the minister for border trade of Meghalaya.
As the demand for Bangladeshi products increases in the north-eastern part of India, the Bangladesh entrepreneurs will pursue to tap the market in a larger way.
The team members will invite Indian business community to enter into joint venture projects, especially in the mining-based industry.
They will also discuss about direct air and road links between Bangladesh and Indian provinces.
The FBCC1 delegation will meet the leaders of the Bengal National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BNCCI) at Kolkata on 30 October 2009.
FBCCI as part of its vision 2021 has organised this tour especially to project the opportunities for the foreign investors available here and to inform about Bangladesh's diversified export basket.
The team leaders are expecting that this tour would open the way to expand Bangladeshi products in the northeastern region of India.
