The Chamber of Construction Industry Sri Lanka is going to host Sri Lanka's first ever international exposition of the construction industry titled 'Excon-2009' at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Centre and BMICH in Colombo from October 30 to November 1 this year.

The exposition would be a great opportunity for construction industrialists from abroad to exhibit their expertise in various fields of the industry.

The linkages that Sri Lanka could establish with these international experts in the process would help promote mutual development of the industry both in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

It will also give the much-needed exposure for the local construction industrialists and also to those from Bangladesh.

'Excon 2009' is endorsed and supported by Sri Lanka's Ministry of Construction and Engineering Services and Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an event of national importance.

The exposition has attracted large scale participation of overseas companies from SAARC region, in addition to a few enterprises from ASEAN countries and the gulf region as trade stall holders.

Over 50 overseas companies have already confirmed their participation as trade stall holders.

Over 100 overseas delegates will also visit the event to explore trade and investment opportunities in Sri Lanka.

All trade stalls, about 300 in number, at the 'Excon 2009' have been sold out. However, CEO/Secretary General of the Chamber Dakshitha Thalgodapitiya said they will welcome delegates to visit the event to explore trade and investment opportunities.

The Chamber of Construction Industry Sri Lanka will facilitate networking sessions and one to one business meetings.

The Sri Lankan Airlines, the national carrier which is the official carrier of "Excon 2009" will offer a 10 per cent discount on air fares while five star accommodation has been arranged at very special rates.
