The first unit of Siddhirganj 120MW power plant is likely to be started within this month, a press release issued by PDB said.

"The first unit will be activated within October and the second one will be completed within December," State Minister for Energy, Power and Mineral Resources Enamul Haque said while visiting the power plant on Friday.

The total estimated project cost is Tk 11.33 billion (1,133 crore) of which Tk 3.41 billion will be provided by local fund and Tk 7.92 billion will be arranged from external sources, added the release.

ASM Alamgir Kabir, chairman of Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), Mostafa Kamal, member (production), Murtaza Kamal, managing director of Electricity Generation Company of Bangladesh, among others, were in the visiting team.
