Axiata (Bangladesh) Limited (Aktel) and Warid Telecom International Limited (Warid) signed a infrastructure sharing agreement at the Aktel corporate office in the city Thursday, said a press release.

Aktel Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Michaell Kuehner and Warid CEO Muneer Farooqui signed the agreement on behalf of their companies.

Also present at the signing ceremony were, Aktel Chief Technical Officer (CTO) AKM Morshed, Chief Financial Officer Nora Junita Hussaini, Chief Strategy Officer Koji Ono, head of Regulatory Affairs Allosisus Mohan Ramaiah and head of Corporate Affairs Segufta Y Samad, and Warid General Manager (Government and Operators Relation) Ashraful H Chowdhury and CTO Saad Sami Ahmed.

Under the agreement, both the operators will provide better coverage to their customers in a cost-effective but environment-friendly manner.

"The infrastructure sharing agreement with Warid is a milestone for the Bangladesh telecom industry, allowing us to provide better coverage for our customers in an environment-friendly manner", the Aktel CEO said.

"It is expected to bring a great outcome for both the parties", he said.
