Week-long Malaysian Food Festival begins

The week-long Malaysian Food Festival has began at Radisson Water Garden Hotel Dhaka from today (Monday) to showcase the cultural diversity and food varieties of Malaysia.

The Food Festival is an initiative by the High Commission of Malaysia, Malaysia Airlines and Radisson Water Garden Hotel Dhaka with the support of Tourism Malaysia and Club Malaysia Bangladesh.

We aimed to bring the taste of Malaysian traditional cuisines to the door-step of Bangladeshi food lovers', High Commissioner of Malaysia Jamaluddin Bin Sabeh said on Sunday at a press conference organised to announce the food festival this year.

"Our traditional food has been one of the prime attraction for Bangladeshi tourists in Malaysia, so we decided to bring their favourite dishes in their own home," the high commissioner said.

Food lovers will also enjoy Malaysian cultural shows every day as part of the festival, he added.

Master Chef Mustaffa Bin Hassan and Master Chef Abd Mutalib Bin Sanin have specially flown in from Kuala Lumpur to transport the charms and flavours of Malaysian fine cuisine to Radisson Water Garden Hotel Dhaka, organizers of the Malaysian food and cultural festival said.

The Radisson culinary team will also be joining the Chefs' to add to the delectability of the cuisine, Andres Alex Gomez, general manager of Radisson Water Garden Hotel Dhaka said.

The Food Festival presents some of the various delicious and popular dishes from the colourful variety of gastronomic spectrum of Malaysia at the "Water Garden Brasserie" restaurant located at the Lobby Level of the hotel.

To add to the magnificent cuisine, the guests at the Malaysian Food Festival will also get a chance of winning an exciting raffle prize from Malaysian Airlines return air tickets for a couple Dhaka-Kuala Lampur-Dhaka that includes two nights' accommodation and breakfast.

Nur Shaffik Haris, Area Manager (Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan) of Malaysian Airlines, Director of Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board Mr. Manoharan was present on the occasion.
