Pandemic Swine Flu sustains at lower level

Pandemic Swine Flu is now sustaining at lower level in Bangladesh, which is a good sign for the country, according to the government spokesman, reports UNB.

"Influenza A (H1N1) virus (Swine Flu) is sustaining at a lower level in Dhaka and outside Dhaka in the country - it remains stable and is not increasing further. It is a good sign for us," said Prof Dr Mahmudur Rahman, Director, Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), and National Influenza Centre (NIC).

Addressing a regular weekly press briefing at the IEDCR auditorium today (Sunday) on the latest situation of Swine Flu in the country, Prof Mahmudur Rahman, also the government spokesman on the pandemic disease, said the total number of identified Swine Flu cases was 646 until Sunday (Oct 4) while the number of cases were 604 until September 26.

The death toll by Swine Flu did not increase from three in the country, he said, adding that their preparations including training of physicians was going on in full swing to keep the pandemic disease in control.

In this regard, Prof Mahmudur Rahman said training on awareness and management of Swine Flu would be imparted to school teachers, hopefully from the third week of October.
