Standard Chartered (StanChart) Bank has become the official sponsor of Liverpool Football Club.

A four-year agreement was signed between the two sides to this effect, said a press release.

Under the deal, effective from July, 2010 and continuing until the end of the 2013-14 season, the people will see the bank's name and logo appear on the Liverpool shirts.

Liverpool FC is the most successful club in English football, enjoying a global following, as evidenced most recently in its highly successful pre-season tour of Singapore and Thailand.

As an official club sponsor, StanChart will enjoy a major rights package, which will provide a platform to significantly step up the bank's brand awareness across its core markets in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of StanChart Bangladesh Osman Morad said, "This is a very exciting partnership for us, this agreement is the largest commercial agreement in Liverpool's history."
