A delegation of Bangladesh Buddha Krishti Prochar Shangha led by its President Shuddhananda Mahathero paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina at her office Wednesday, reports BSS.
During the meeting, the Buddhist delegation apprised the PM of their needs and problems and sought her cooperation to this end.
Welcoming the delegation, the PM said Bangladesh was a land of religious harmony with the people of all faiths living together peacefully in this country.
"Our government is fully committed to maintaining a peaceful as well as non-communal atmosphere by ensuring equal rights of all irrespective of their religious faiths and beliefs," she said.
Sheikh Hasina said Awami League believed in the non-communal spirit of the War of Liberation and the present government would do whatever necessary for bringing welfare to the people as well as the nation. The PM gave the delegation a patient hearing and assured them of providing all necessary cooperation to them.
Senior Vice-President of the association P R Barua, Vice- President Ranjit Kumar Barua and Secretary General Dr Pranab Kumar Barua were among members of the delegation.
