Sustained, innovative and informative campaign by embassy of Bangladesh under the leadership of Ambassador Humayun Kabir helped draw US attention to the challenges faced by climatically vulnerable countries like Bangladesh, reports UNB.

This was stated by Raymond C Offenheiser, president of Oxfam America Tuesday.

In a message to Ambassador Humayun Kabir, Oxfam President also acknowledged that subsequent meetings and contacts of the ambassador with the US leadership of both the US House and Senate had also influenced the legislative deliberations of a few important climate related initiatives by the US.

Deeply appreciating the enormous contribution on the issue of climate change, the Oxfam President lauded the role of Ambassador Kabir in highlighting Bangladesh's challenges due to climate change.

Ambassador Kabir's innovative approach helped win receptive friends in the Congress and eventual inclusion of international financing provision in the House's resolution on climate change, the Oxfam President stated.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Kabir left USA Tuesday after the conclusion of his tour of duty.
