The three-day Remittance & Insurance fair organised by Dhaka International Exhibition Company Limited (DIEC) began at Race Course at Comilla Saturday, said a press release.

Pubali Bank Managing Director (MD) Helal Ahmed Chowdhury, Dhaka Bank MD Khondker Fazle Rashid, National Bank DMD Azizur Rahman, Sonali Bank General Manager (GM) Tapan Kanti Ghosh, Agrani Bank GM Nazmus Salehin, Meghna Life Insurance Chairman Nizam Uddin Ahmed, Deputy Controller of Insurance Mizanur Rahman and DIEC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Enayet Karim were present at the inaugural ceremony.

Large numbers of local people visited the fair to see and enquire about various remittance and expatriates' beneficiary products of banks and different policies of life insurance companies.

The three-day fair was organised to create awareness among the remitter and remittance beneficiaries about the adverse effects of hundi in the economy and to familiarize them about insurance.

Fifteen local banks and five life insurance companies are taking part in the fair. The fair is the first of its kind in Comilla.
