KHULNA, Aug 1 (UNB): There are some 38,320 arsenic affected people across the country and its number is rising every year, according to the latest survey of Health Department.
This was disclosed at a press conference organised by the Health Department and Arsenic Programme of Health and Family Welfare Ministry at local press club Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Coordinator of arsenic programme Dr Nazmul Hasan said presence of arsenic in water beyond the permissible limit was found in the tube-wells in 62 out of country's 64 districts.
He informed that arsenic patient was first detected at a village in Chapainawabganj district in 1993.
