CHITTAGONG, Aug 1 (BSS): Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr Afsarul Amin Saturday said that the country's illiterate children at the grassroots level would be brought under the compulsory primary education network.
"We would educate the children across the country for building an enlightened nation," Dr Afsar said a day after taking over the charge of the ministry of primary and mass education.
He said that school students must be motivated about the adverse effects of climate change and environmental hazards and be equipped with time befitting curriculum.
Dr Afsarul Amin said this while speaking at the concluding day of a fortnight long tree fair at city's MA Aziz Outer Stadium.
Chittagong District administration and Chittagong North Forest Division (CNFD) jointly organised the fair to motivate the people to contribute more for protection of the country's forest resources through massive tree plantation.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Jaker Hossain presided over the function while Conservator of Forests, Chittagong region, Anwar Hossain, Dr Al Amin, Director of Institute of Forestry and Environmental Science (IFES) of Chittagong University, Dr Kamal Hossain of IFES, were among others, addressed the function as special guests.
Over 50 stalls of various private and public sector organisations participated in the fair.
Later, the minister distributed prizes among the best participants in the fair.
