'Proper education can help bring aboriginal people to mainstream'

RANGPUR, Aug 1 (BSS): Parliament Member Anisul Islam Mandal stressed the need for bringing the backward aboriginal people to the mainstream for their proper development.

For this, the aboriginal children must be properly educated, he said adding that the present government, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is committed to mainstreaming the aboriginal people by ensuring their education for overall development and welfare.

He was addressing as the chief guest at a function for distributing educational materials and stipend money among aboriginal students of primary, secondary and higher secondary levels in the auditorium of Badarganj Upazila Parishad.

UNO of Badarganj Rezaul Alam Sarker chaired the function attended by Badarganj Upazila Vice-Chairmen Rafikur Rahman and Mohsina Begum as special guests.

Aboriginal community teachers Piyari Kunji, Budhua Kuzur, Shoonta and Litan addressed, among others.

Later, Mr. Mandal distributed educational materials among 160 primary-level students, stipend of Tk 500 each to 68 secondary-level students and stipend of Tk 1,200 each among 34 higher secondary-level students.
