CHITTAGONG, July 21: Environment pollution in the port city has reached perilous levels because nothing is being done to implement the environmental code. Also, there is no proper vigilance by the concerned government agencies of this poisoning of the environment.

According to the environmentalists, tonnes of hydrocarbon, carbon-monoxide, sulphur dioxide and nitrogen are being jettisoned in the air along with the unabated daily emission of fossil fuel from the thousands of vehicles. This noxious state of the air is extremely hazardous to living creatures which includes us-human beings.

It was revealed in a study by concerned agencies that most of the vehicles owners in Chittagong city were not complying with the relevant environmental code which resulted in this serious air pollution.
