KHULNA, July 18 (BSS): Awami League leaders of Khulna city and district unit Saturday demanded arrest and trial of killers of Juba League leader Shahid Iqbal Bither.

The demands came at a press conference in Khulna Press Club Saturday.

They said AL leaders Advocate Manjurul Imam and SMA Rob, Advocate Bijon Bihari Mondol, rickshawpuller Shahidul Islam, CPB leader Raton Sen, Prof Sardar Abdur Razzak, Sardar Harun-or-Rashid, Kamrul Islam Kutu, Manzur Morshed Khan Labu, and journalists Humayun Kabir Balu, Manik Saha, Harun-or- Rashid Khokon and Sheikh Belal Uddin were killed during the last few years.

But the killers, godfathers and financiers were not tried, they regretted. Following those killings, Bither, a popular ward commissioner of Khulna City Corporation (KCC), was killed by a vested quarter.

Mayor of the KCC and president of Khulna city unit AL Talukder Abdul Khalek read out a written speech. State Minister for Labour and Manpower Monnuzan Sufian and district AL leader Sheikh Harun-or-Rashid also spoke at the conference.

General secretary of Khulna city AL Mizanur Rahaman Mizan, JSD leader Rafiqul Haque Khokon and CPB leader Rafiqul Islam Sabuj, among others, were present on the occasion.
