Three people, including a housewife and her maid, were killed when they came in contact with live electric wires at Moghbazar and Kadamtoli in the city Thursday morning, police said.

The incidents took place only hours after a woman and her daughter were electrocuted at Lalbagh in the city during heavy downpour on Wednesday evening.

Witnesses said Majuda Huda Jolly, 38, wife of advocate Nazrul Huda Dollar, first came in touch with a snapped electric wire near her house, while she was returning home in Gabtola area of Moghbazar.

Her domestic help Rini, 10, also came in contact with the wire as she tried to rescue Jolly, leaving both died on the spot.

In another incident, a construction worker, Ripon, was seriously injured and later succumbed at hospital after being electrocuted on the same day.
