UZ chairman among six killed in Rajshahi road accident

RAJSHAHI, Jun 14 (UNB): Six people, including newly elected Puthia Upazila Chairman Abu Amin M Waejul Haq Bachchu, were killed and 35 others injured as a truck rammed into a bus in a fatal accident on the Dhaka-Rajshahi highway at Senbagh in Puthia early Sunday.

Witnesses said a Natore-bound truck from Rajshahi collided with a night coach of Hanif Paribahan coming from Dhaka at about 12:45am, leaving three passengers of the bus, including Bachchu, dead on the spot and 38 others injured.

The two other deceased could not be identified immediately.

Eighteen of the injured were admitted to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where three more succumbed to their injuries later. They are Panna (33) of Kalia of Chapainawabganj, Masud (35) of Boalia in the city and Amzad Hossain (35) of Haripur in Paba Upazila.

The other injured were admitted to Puthia Upazila Health Complex.
