Bangla Academy former deputy director, folklore researcher and writer Momen Chowdhury breathed his last. He was 73, says a press release Thursday.

His namaj-e-janaz was held Thursday at the Bangla Academy premises in the city. All the officials paid their last homage to him with floral wreaths and prayer for salvation of the departed soul.

He was laid to rest in Gopibag graveyard. He won several awards including Michael award, Kaekobad Shahittyo Majlish award, Nandini Shahittyo O Pathchakra award for his folklore research.
