Speakers at a seminar in the city Thursday emphasised the need for increasing clinical trials in healthcare services with a view to detecting exact disease and giving proper treatment accordingly, reports BSS.
"Clinical trials are gaining ground across the globe for its scientific benefits and business profit, but Bangladesh is yet to step forward in this potential area", they said at a seminar styled "Modulation of insulin secretion and insulin sensitivity in Bangladeshi type-2 diabetic by an insulin sensitiser pioglitasone and its pharmacokietics study" at the centre of excellence in Dhaka University.
State Minister for Science and Information, and Communication Technology Yeafesh Osman was the chief guest in the function while DU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique and Bangladesh Diabetic Samity President Prof AK Azad Khan attended the seminar as the special guest and guest of honour respectively.
DU former VC Prof AK Azad Chowdhury presided over the seminar sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Information, and Communication Technology.
Masuma Parvin, a PhD student and researcher, presented a keynote paper, which she made following a research carried out on 80 diabetic patients at the seminar where researchers, scientists and medicine experts partic]ipated.
Yeafesh Osman said that the present government was pledged-bound to give more importance to research and scientific sectors as it is trying to build Digital Bangladesh.
