CHITTAGONG, July 2: The 56-years old bleaching plant of Karnaphuli Paper Mills (KPM) is being replaced with a new plant at a cost of Tk 960 million. The replacement will be on turn-key basis, according to informed sources.
In this connection, KPM Managing Director S K Sannyal and General Manager of Marubeni Corporation of Japan, Hiroshi Naka Gawa signed an agreement on behalf of their respective organisations. Following the agreement signing, the KPM MD expressed his optimism that after completion of the project, it would help KPM to meet the ever increasing demand for paper.
With the new plant, sources say, production capacity of the state owned paper mills will increase qualitatively on the one hand and environmental pollution will lessen appreciably on the other.
