Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL) has donated Tk 20 million (2.0 crore) to construct the fourth floor of Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Bangladesh (OGSB) Hospital along with its academic institute at Mirpur in the city.

The DBBL board of directors has sanctioned the amount as donation for the construction of the floor, which will be specially dedicated to sick and vulnerable children only.

In this connection, a discussion was organised by the OGSB on the hospital premises in the city Tuesday, said a press release.

Chaired by OGSB president Sayeba Akhter, the meeting was attended, among others, by Minister for Health and Family Welfare Prof AFM Ruhul Haque as the chief guest, and DBBL Executive Committee (EC) Chairman Sayem Ahmed and lawmaker Kamal Ahmed Majumdar as the special guests.

The bank's EC chairman handed over the commitment letter of donating Tk 20 million to the minister for health and family welfare for constructing the 4th floor of the hospital.

The minister lauded the philanthropic activities of the bank.

The DBBL EC chairman mentioned that the bank was making every effort to discharge its corporate social responsibility (CSR) by carrying out various philanthropic programmes to mitigate the sufferings of the underprivileged groups.

OGSB president Sayeba Akhter, chairman of OGSB Hospital and Institute of Reproductive and Child Health Shahla Khatun and secretary general of Sadhinata Chikitsha Parishad Iqbal Arsanal also spoke on the occasion.

Initially a four-storied building with 150 bedded will be erected and subsequently it will be a 10-storied 300-bed hospital and institution for reproductive and child health.
