DCCI, CCCI and SEQUA Germany jointly organised a conference on 'Strengthening Bangladeshi business organisations and entrepreneurs groups for doing business with the EU,' at the DCCI Auditorium Saturday.
Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) President Zafar Osman was present as chief guest at the closing ceremony of the conference, while Senior Vice President MS Shekil Chowdhury presided over the conference, said a press release.
DCCI President Osman, in his speech, said that EU is a vast market for diversified products of our country. Exporters of jute, leather, agriculture products, frozen food, gift items and handicrafts identified some major hurdles in running business with EU.
He sought government support to find out ways to overcome the hurdles. Otherwise, products from Bangladesh would fail to enter EU and other developed country markets, he said.
DCCI Senior Vice President MS Shekil Chowdhury said in his speech that a favourable business environment is needed and stressed on reduction of knowledge gap between developed and developing countries.
Project Director of SEQUA GmbH Germany Markus Eicher gave a brief presentation on the project.
Minister and Head of Commercial Wing of Bangladesh Embassy in Belgium Faizul Latif Chowdhury said that Bangladesh exports 55 per cent of its frozen shrimp to Europe. He stressed on maintaining the quality of exportable shrimp to Europe.
Debelux AHK, Belgium Matthias Popp, delegation to the European Commission in Bangladesh Jean-Claude Malongo, DCCI Director Nessar Maksud Khan and Omar Faruk also spoke on the occasion.
DCCI Vice President Md Sirajuddin Malik delivered concluding speech. DCCI board of directors and representatives of entrepreneurs groups took part in the conference.
